We are hosting our first wedding at Vallum Farm on Sunday 29th May.  With 3 of our tenants as key suppliers to the event we are excited for the future.

Apparently it is difficult to find a venue which will host large weddings of eg 200 guests.  We were approached by some old friends last year who had hit such a stumbling block, they wanted a venue they loved for their extensive families but either the venue was too small or it wasnt personal enough.

We have often discussed hosting weddings at Vallum 'when the children are older' (they are currently 4 and 2) but thought .. why not.  We know the family and they wanted the sort of food we are confident in doing.  Lets face it .. if we can pull it off for 200 we can surely do anything?!

Time has flown and we have 5 days left until 200 adults and 20 children descend on Vallum for canapes, a three course hot waitressed meal and our home made dairy ice cream is being served all night!

What is most exciting is how the other businesses at Vallum have fitted into the equation.  North Country Organics have hand grown miniature carrots, pea shoots, rare micro cresses, baby turnips and the most exquisite edible flowers which will be starring in every course.  Bywell Smokery Fish and game are supplying all the produce for the starter, it will be garnished with North Country Organics pea shoots and the wonderful dill sauce made by The Herb Patch near Ebchester.

Hannah Price, our resident florist, won the job to supply the flowers completely independenlty of our involvement in the wedding.

It is a very exciting time and we have a monumental amount of work to do.  i have just put a big carload of veg into my kitchen .. and i mean the boot was full, the back was full, and we havent even got Ken's veg yet, he is harvesting that for us on Saturday.

We will post some pictures when the job is done .. there are bound to be hitches but we have teamed up with Virgina Steer who has been running weddings all over Northumberland for years.  She will take charge of the running of the day which is a huge relief.  Am sure we will learn a thing or two!!

We are praying for the wind to drop as Waltons Marquees are due to start putting the marquee up on Thursday.. it has been crazy windy the last few days.

Fingers crossed!!
