Situated 12 miles from Newcastle on Hadrian's Wall, Vallum is now available for private events.

 

We hosted our first marquee wedding on 29th May 2011.  With 200 guests and 20 children.  It was the first time we had provided a hot, waitressed meal, from a tent kitchen.  We didnt really know how it was going to work.  I have to be honest, even on the day it was hard to see how we were going to get the food out for that many people!

However, with an excellent, experienced independent front of house team of waitresses and barmen who work all over Northumberland on events like these, everything went very smoothly.  They freed us up to concentrate on the food and it does take a huge amount of organisation!

The bride, groom and all their families were thrilled and so were we.  In fact, we all enjoyed the 'buzz' so much that we can now officially say 'yes' please do get in touch if you have a wedding, celebration or any other event which you would like us to host. 

Broadly, we can supply an all inclusive service for larger events so there is no stress for the hosts.  All those details like crockery, linen, glasses, alcohol, skips, electrics .. we wave a magic wand and take care of everything. 

Specifically we have some unique strengths at Vallum which contribute to the 'feel good factor' we are going for.  These include: 

CATERING:  we have a team of cooks who supply very high quality, simple menus from a cold buffet to a hot roast.  We are proud to use vegetables, salads and edible flowers from our own fields, produced by Ken & Tracy Holland of North Country Organics.  We also take great pride in using smoked goods produced on site by Bernard Lynch of Bywell Smokery Fish & Game.  We feel very lucky to have this artisan producer on our farm. 

We also use a wide range of local producers supplying everything from meat to cream.  Menus will be tailor made to suit each event and, should you require a fine dining experience, we work closely with a highly experienced private cheffing team who would meet with you in person to develop your bespoke menu.

FLOWERS:  we have an excellent florist on site who we feel has an 'edge' with her eye for design and colour.  Hannah Price of Wildflower will quote independently for your event.

BEER:  we have a brewer in the family!  Lucy Moffitt married Tom Hick of Allendale Brewery 2 years ago and they can supply a bar and barrelled beer / bottled beer.

MARQUEES:  we have an excellent level site for any size of marquee.  There is an independent electricity supply installed on the paddock where events will be held.  The site looks out over the lake and fields.

Our Tea Room and Ice Cream Parlour are also available to hire in the evenings for smaler private parties.
