ARTISAN PRODUCERS ON HADRIAN'S WALL

What finer place for an artisan community than here on Hadrian’s Wall? Vallum Farm lies on the spot where Roman auxiliaries lived 2,000 years ago, gathering their produce from the fields, just as our artisans do today. Join us…and enjoy all the tastes of Vallum country.

TEA AT THE SHOW

We're at Northumberland County Show on Bank Holiday Monday May 27 with our 200sqm tea tent featuring our famed afternoon teas and Middle Eastern street food from David Kennedy. Eat, drink, be merry!

VALLUM KITCHEN GARDEN

Vallum Kitchen Garden is now blooming and you can watch Ken and Tracy at work in the poly tunnels from the paddock and Tea Room. Keep your eyes out for some very big names of the food world picking their own and placing their orders.

ENJOY YOURSELF!

We've a host of events planned for the summer, including celebrity book launches with Kate Humble on June 27 and Great British Bake Off winner John Whaite on July 31, plus Vallum Fete on August 11.

THE ARTISAN GATEWAY TO HADRIAN'S WALL

SAVOUR THE TASTES OF VALLUM COUNTRY

Come to Vallum and enjoy the produce of land once trod by the Roman auxiliaries who lived in the shadow of Hadrian’s Wall. We farm dairy cattle and crops while our community of artisan growers, smokers, bakers, chefs and ice cream makers stock our Tea Room, Restaurant and Shop. Our local food is raised and grown by us and our Northumbrian neighbours, and depending on the time of day, you may see our producers at work and chefs from all over the country picking their own and placing their orders at the unique Vallum Kitchen Garden. Our programme of experiences and events is growing a pace, and visitors also enjoy our wildlife walks, the outdoor play paddock, and the fresh produce, deli goods, artisan breads and patisserie at David Kennedy’s shop. Vallum - home of the tastes of Hadrian's Wall country.

  • EAT

    FIELD TO PLATE

The produce of Hadrian’s Wall country is served in our Tea Room and Ice Cream Parlour and at the David Kennedy Restaurant and Shop. Our ice cream is made from the milk of our Brown Swiss cows, and our vegetables are grown on the Vallum Kitchen Garden. Enjoy homemade bread and patisserie, and take home a treat from the shop.

  • OUTDOORS

    WALK, REST AND PLAY

There are few better things than relaxing with a cuppa and a homemade cheese scone on our south-facing deck overlooking the outdoor play paddock. We have a small indoor pre-school play area with space for parents to relax, and gentle wildlife walks where you can spot a variety of nesting birds guided by our information boards.

  • EXPERIENCES

    DO IT YOURSELF

Cook with former North East Chef of the Year David Kennedy; make ice cream and create your own flavour combinations with Vicky; enjoy wine and cheese tastings with Ginny in the shop; and get your gardening gloves on in the Vallum Kitchen Garden with Ken. Watch our events page (below) for news of all our experiences and events.

  • ARTISANS

    VALLUM PRODUCE

Vallum is a growing community of artisan producers who share a passion for traditionally produced food, drink and craft. We treasure the rich history of this magical site, where the Moffitt family has farmed dairy cattle and crops for many years. Now our artisans look forward to sharing the tastes of Vallum country with you.

Enjoy the tastes, sights and sounds of Vallum country with a visit to our award-winning Tea Room and Ice Cream Parlour and the renowned David Kennedy at Vallum Restaurant and Shop. Our visitors enjoy our regular events and food & drink experiences, wandering our wildlife trails, and meeting our artisans at work in our kitchens, workshops and the Vallum Kitchen Garden.

We ‘re all looking forward to meeting the Hebridean lambs when Patrick and Paula Coulson bring their flock to meet our customers between noon-3pm.
The Coulsons are set to be regular visitors with a small flock in the paddock next to the entrance.  They are a little smaller than most sheep and so pretty.  Paula can tell you all about this special breed and you can listen to their lovely lamb chatter. Thank you Patrick and Paula!
